Chirgilchin is a group of musicians from Tuva, a small Russian province north of Western Mongolia. Singing the ancient folk songs in the Tuvan language, the group also plays hand made instruments. The group consists of Aidysmaa Koshkendey, Igor Koshkendey, Aldar Tamdyn, and Mongoun-Ool Ondar.
Since 1996, the group has performed in different countries – Belgium, England, Finland, US, New Zealand, Canada, Holland, Norway, Italy, and of course, in Tuva.
• In 1996, they recorded their first CD, “Wolf and the Kid”.
• In 1999, they recorded their second CD, “Aryskan’s Wind”.
• In 2005, they recorded their third CD, “Collectible”.
Aidysmaa Koshkendey is the soloist of the group, and is the winner of many different vocal competitions in Tuva.
Igor Koshkendey is one of the best throat singers from Tuva. He singing of six styles of throat singing include unique Oidupaa style, which used only two singers - Oidupaa and Koshkendey.
• Winner of Grand Prix of International Competition of Throat Singing in 1998.
• Winner of Grand Prix of International Competition in Llangollen (England) in 2000.
• Winner of International Competition in Kyzyl (Tuva) June 2002.
• Soloist of famous throat singing group Chirgilchin.
Aldar Tamdyn was born in the Chadaana of Tuva and now lives in Kyzyl. He is uniquely talented on the byzaanchy,
morin-hour and was a winner at the International Folk Music Festival in Tuva as a best instrumentalist.
Now Aldar is director of National Tuvan Orchestra of Traditional Instruments.
Aldar Tamdyn also very talented musical instruments master.
He made all music instruments for Chirgilchin and for another folk groups of Siberia
Mongoun-Ool Ondar won the 1992 Grand Prix at age 16, knows 6 throat singing styles
and is close to inventing his own style. He is a member of both Chirgilchin and Shu-De and a student of the legendary singer Oleg Kuular.
