Karen and Helene met in 2000 at the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music Odense, where they were the first students to specialise in vocals on the Folk Music Course. They began collaborating very early on, focusing on the Danish and Nordic song tradition. After a couple of years as a duo, they decided to extend the collaboration to some of the best musicians they knew and release a record of Danish songs. In April 2004 Solen (The Sun) was finally released – their first album together.
